Animal Aromatherapy
As a devoted pet owner, my dogs are an important part of my family and as such, I want to provide them with the same level of natural health and well-being as possible. Essential oils can be used for separation anxiety, travel sickness and many other common issues. I have used essential oils and hydrosols with my pets to help them navigate safely and effectively through a variety of conditions. I have been trained in the safety of using Aromatherapy with cats, dogs and horses. Hydrosols are fabulous and safe to use with pets. Hydrosols are the water by-product during the distillation of essential oils.
Besides recommending some hydrosols for safe use with animals, I have created a wonderful “Paw butter” that I designed to use on the paws and pads of my two kid’s feet. Here in Tucson, the pavement gets extremely hot in the summer. There are other places where it is quite cold. Dog’s feet can get dry and cracked. The paw butter recipe contains only four ingredients and is all natural and organic, so even if they do lick at their feet, it is completely safe and non-toxic.

Bobo and Bobita, my two Standard Poodles were my inspiration!
Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is the quintessential essential oil to help with any spasms - muscular, cough, menstrual, etc. It will help calm and soothe the body, mind and spirit.
For Pets:
This essential oil is chosen for many nervous conditions, including a nervous stomach. This is great when traveling with your pet
Lemon (Citrus limon) is one of the "essential" essential oils. It helps support the immune system because of its antibacterial, antiviral properties. Its aroma will bring "liquid sunshine" to any blend, therfore it is a great addition to anti-anxiety and anti-depressant blends.
For Pets:
Lemon (Citrus limon) essential oil is a great support your pet’s immune system.
Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is another wonderful citrus essential oil. It blends well with other citruses to create a highly anti-depressant blend but also possesses the component d-limonene thereby giving the anti-bacterial, antiviral qualities.
For Pets:
Lime (Citrus auarntifolia) essential oil is known for its antibacterial properties.
Ruh Khus (Vetiveria zizanoides) is distilled from the roots of the the grassy plant which give this essential oil a rich, earthy, chocolaty aroma. It is calming, soothing and grounding on an energetic level. Some of its therapeutic benefits are its support for the lymphatic system. It makes for a wonderful deodorant.
For Pets:
Ruh Khus (Vetiveria zizanoides) essential oil is wonderful to ease anxiety and aggression. Animals are attracted to this woodsy aroma and sometimes it is chosen as an alternative to Lavender essential oil.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is one essential oil that has so many possible uses with so many benefits for us physically, emotionally and spiritually. Lavender is so often used for its calming effects and helps with insomnia, but it is also a fabulous essential oil for colds and flu as well as for pain and inflammation.
For Pets:
This essential oil can be used for both emotional and physical support. It eases worry and works great for separation anxiety in pets.
